Multicenter phase 3 study of adjuvant icotinib versus chemotherapy for stage II-IIIA EGFR-mutated NSCLC
Prof. Jianxing He
The multicenter phase 3 trial EVIDENCE in China compared icotinib versus chemotherapy as adjuvant treatment for stage II-IIIA EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer after complete resection. Interim analysis of the study found median disease-free survival to be 47.0 months with icotinib versus 22.1 months with chemotherapy (HR 0.36; p<0.0001). Treatment-related serious adverse events occurred in 1% of patients in the icotinib group versus 14% of patients in the chemotherapy group. Overall survival data are immature. The authors conclude that compared with chemotherapy, icotinib significantly improved DFS and had a better tolerability profile after complete resection of EGFR-mutant stage II-IIIA NSCLC.
