Men with grade group 2 or 3 prostate cancer are often considered ineligible for active surveillance. A phase 2b study in eight centers in the USA evaluated MRI-guided focused ultrasound focal therapy for these patients. At 24 months, 88% of patients had no evidence of grade group 2 or higher prostate cancer in the treated area. There were no grade 4 or 5 TRAEs, and only grade 3 adverse event. The authors conclude that MRI-guided focused ultrasound focal therapy for grade group 2 or 3 prostate cancer was safe and effective.
