The multicenter phase 2 U-BOMB trial in China evaluated the combination of utidelone and bevacizumab for patients with HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (mBC) and active brain metastases. In this nonrandomized clinical trial of 47 patients, the central nervous system objective response rate was 42.6% per RECIST 1.1, whereas the safety profile of the treatment was manageable. The authors conclude that combination therapy with utidelone plus bevacizumab is a potentially viable treatment for patients with HER2-negative mBC and active brain metastases.
