Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) is increasingly used to treat oligometastatic disease (OMD; up to 5 metastases). The phase 2 BONY-M trial in Denmark and Norway evaluated SABR with 30 or 37.5 Gy in 3 fractions to all metastases in OMD patients with uncomplicated bone metastases. The 1-year local control rate was 93.1% (95% CI 87.3-99.2) and the 1-year fracture rate was 9.9% (2.6-16.7). The 1-year progression-free survival and overall survival were 62% and 92%, respectively. The authors conclude that SABR for uncomplicated bone metastases in OMD patients resulted in a promising 1-year local control rate and acceptable toxicity.
