A phase 2 trial at 21 centers in the US evaluated outcomes after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for mismatched unrelated donors using peripheral blood stem cells as the graft source, and post-transplant cyclophosphamide-based graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis. The study found excellent overall survival rates at 1 year after the transplantation, with low rates of GVHD. There was no difference in OS on the basis of degree of HLA match, expanding access to HSCT for patients regardless of their ancestry.
