Multicenter phase 2 trial of perioperative nivolumab and chemotherapy for stage III non-small cell lung cancer
Dr. Mariano Provencio
Approximately 20% of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receive a diagnosis of stage III disease. There is no consensus regarding the most appropriate treatment for these patients. The multicenter phase 2 NADIM II trial in Spain evaluated neoadjuvant nivolumab plus chemotherapy followed by surgery and adjuvant nivolumab versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery for stage IIIA and stage IIIB NSCLC. The nivolumab plus chemotherapy group had higher complete response rate and longer survival than the chemotherapy-alone group. Grade 3 or 4 adverse events occurred in 19% versus 10%, respectively.
