Multicenter phase 2 trial of nivolumab plus ipilimumab for advanced ovarium and endometrial clear cell cancers
Dr. Oliver Klein
Gynecological clear cell cancers are aggressive malignancies with low response rate to chemotherapy. The phase 2 MoST-CIRCUIT trial, at 17 centers in Australia and New Zealand, evaluated the combination of nivolumab and ipilimumab for advanced clear cell ovarian cancer and clear cell endometrial cancer (CCOC/CCEC). In this nonrandomized clinical trial including 24 CCOC patients and 4 CCEC patients, the combination of nivolumab and ipilimumab resulted in an objective response rate of 54% and a 6-month progression-free survival rate of 58%, with all responses being ongoing. The authors conclude that nivolumab plus ipilimumab combination therapy has significant activity in gynecological clear cell cancers.
