Multicenter phase 2 trial of neoadjuvant carmrelizumab plus chemotherapy or apatinib for resectable stage IIA-IIIA NSCLC

A multicenter nonrandomized phase 2 trial in China evaluated neoadjuvant camrelizumab plus platinum-based chemotherapy for stage IIA-IIIA NSCLC regardless of PD-L1 status (arm AR), and neoadjuvant camrelizumab plus apatinib for PD-L1 positive stage IIA-IIIA NSCLC (arm BR). Major pathologic response rate was 25% in arm AR and 60% in arm BR. Median event-free survival and overall survival were 24.8 months and 38.8 months, respectively, in arm AR and 28.7 months and not reached, respectively, in arm BR. The authors conclude that neoadjuvant camrelizumab plus chemotherapy demonstrated promising efficacy in unselected stage IIA-IIIA NSCLC, and that neoadjuvant camrelizumab plus apatinib might be a potential treatment for PD-L1 positive stage IIA-IIIA NSCLC.
