Multicenter phase 2 study of the oral combination of niraparib and anlotinib for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer
Prof. Jihong Liu
Patients with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer (PROC) have a poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Both PARP inhibitors and antiangiogenics have shown some activity in platinum-resistant disease. The phase 2 ANNIE study, at three centers in China, evaluated the all oral combination of the PARP inhibitor niraparib and the angiogenic anlotinib for PROC. The combination had antitumor activity
and resulted in promising survival outcomes. Grade 3 or worse treatment-related adverse events were reported for 68% of patients. The authors conclude that this oral combination warrants further investigation as a convenient treatment option for patients with PROC.
