Systemic treatment options for non-small-cell lung cancer with brain metastases (NSCLC BMs) are scarce. The phase 2 CAP-BRAIN study at seven centers in China evaluated the first-line combination of camrelizumab, pemetrexed, and carboplatin for nonsquamous NSCLC BMs. Among patients having at least one post-baseline tumor assessment, the confirmed intracranial objective response rate was 52.5% (95% CI 36.1-68.5) while the median intracranial progression-free survival was 7.6 months (4.6-NR), the median overall PFS was 7.4 months (4.4-NR), and the median overall survival was 21.0 months (15.9-NR). There was a positive trend in cognitive function and quality of life. The authors conclude that the first-line combination of camrelizumab, pemetrexed, and carboplatin showed activity with manageable toxicity among patients with NSCLC BMs.
