Multicenter phase 2 study of belzutifan for renal cell carcinoma in von Hippel-Lindau disease
Dr. Ramaprasad Srinivasan
Patients with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease have a high incidence of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) owing to VHL gene inactivation and constitutive activation of the transcription factor HIF-2α. Belzutifan (MK-6482) is an inhibitor of HIF-2α. The multicenter phase 2 MK-6482-004 trial evaluated belzutifan for VHL-associated RCC. Belzutifan was associated with predominantly grade 1 and 2 adverse events, and showed activity in patients with RCC and non-RCC neoplasms associated with VHL disease.
