Multicenter phase 1b study of combination of first-line afatinib plus anti-EGF vaccine for EFGR-mutated mNSCLC
Dr. Rafael Rosell
The combination of anti-EGFR monoclonal antibodies or immune checkpoint inhibitors with tyrosine kinase inhibitor has show mininal benefit in EGFR mutant NSCLC patients. New combination approaches for these patients are needed. The multicenter phase 1b EPICAL study in Spain evaluated the combination of first-line afatinb with anti-EGF vaccination in patients with EGFR-mutated metastatic NSCLC. The combination was well-tolerated and had promising efficacy (median PFS 14.8 months and median OS 26.9 months).
