Multicenter phase 1 trial of fuzuloparib plus apatinib for advanced ovarian and triple-negative breast cancer

The combination of an anti-angiogenic agent with a PARP inhibitor could spare patients with advanced cancers the toxicities of conventional chemotherapy. A multicenter phase 1 trial in China evaluated the combination of apatinib and fuzuloparib among patients with advanced ovarian cancer or advanced triple-negative breast cancer. The combination had acceptable safety and promising clinical activity. The authors conclude that this combination deserves further study as a potential alternative to chemotherapy.
