Multicenter non-inferiority phase 3 trial of health-related quality of life and overall survival with first- or second-line eribulin versus S-1 for HER2-negative mBC
Prof. Masato Takahashi
The non-inferiority phase 3 RESQ trial, at 50 centers in Japan, investigated health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and overall survival (OS) of HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (mBC) patients receiving first- or second line eribulin versus S-1. Primary endpoint was time to detioration of global health status (EORTC QLQ-C30) with 10 or more points. For this endpoint there was no significant difference between the groups. A secondary endpoint was OS. The median OS
was 34.7 months in the eribulin group versus 27.8 months in the S-1 group (HR 0.72; p=0.026). The authors conclude that first- or second-line eribulin compared with S-1 for HER2-negative mBC resulted in similar time to HRQOL deterioration and in superior OS.
