MRD response and prognosis in treatment-naïve AML with venetoclax and azacitidine
Dr. Keith Pratz
There is limited evidence on the clinical utility of monitoring measurable residual disease (MRD) in patients receiving lower-intensity therapy for AML. Post-hoc analysis of the multinational VIALE-A trial evaluated the outcomes of patients who achieved composite complete remission (CRc; CR + CRi) and MRD < 10-3. These patients had longer duration of remission, longer event-free survival, and longer overall survival than patients achieving CRc without MRD < 10-3. In multivariate analysis CRc with MRD < 10-3 was a strong predictor of OS (aHR 0.285; p<0.001). The authors conclude that MRD monitoring could be informative for patients receiving lower-intensity therapies for AML.
