Monosialotetrahexosylganglioside for chronic oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity

Chronic oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (OIPN) is a dose-limiting side effect of oxaliplatin. The single-center phase 3 TJMUCH-GI-001 trial in Tianjin (China) evaluated monosialotetrahexosylganglioside (GM1) for OIPN. The study showed that GM1 reduced the severity of chronic OIPN compared with placebo. There were no deleterious effects of GM1 on survival or tumor response, and there were no grade 3 or higher GM1-related adverse effects.
