Meta-analysis of studies of Tumor Treating Fields therapy for newly diagnose glioblastoma
Dr. Matthew Ballo
Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) is an antimitotic treatment modality that interferes with glioblastoma cell division and organelle assembly by delivering low-intensity alternating electric fields to the tumor. Meta-analysis of seven randomized studies (1430 patients) found that addition of TTFields to standard chemoradiotherapy for glioblastoma was associated with improved overall survival. The pooled median OS was 22.6 months for TTFields-treated patients versus 17.4 months for patients not receiving TTFields (HR 0.63; p<0.001).
