Long-term results of PRECIS study of radiotherapy versus autologous SCT for primary CNS lymphoma in patients aged 60 years or younger
Dr. Caroline Houillier
The French multicenter randomized phase 2 PRECIS study included patients aged 18 to 60 years with newly diagnosed PCNSL. The patients received high-dose melphalan-based induction chemotherapy followed by WBRT or high-dosechemotherapy with autologous SCT. Long-term analysis, after median 8 years of follow-up, showed that 8-year EFS was 67% after ASCT versus 39% after WBRT (p=0.03) with a significantly lower risk of relapse after ASCT (HR 0.13; p<0.001). The 8-year OS rate was 69% after ASCT versus 65% after WBRT (not significant). Balance and neurocognition significantly deteriorated after WBRT compared with ASCT.
