Long-term follow-up of combination of BCMA and CD19 CAR T cell therapy in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma
A combination of anti-B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and anti-CD19 CAR T cells induces high response rates in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM). Long-term outcomes of this treatment have not been assessed yet. A phase 2 study in China investigated outcomes of this treatment with a median follow-up of 21.3 months. The median duration of response was 20.3 months, and the progression-free survival was 18.3 months, while the long-term safety profile was manageable. The authors conclude that the combination of anti-BCMA and anti-CD19 CAR T cells induced durable response in R/R MM patients.
