Lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab for either treatment-naïve or previously treated metastatic renal cell carcinoma

The multinational phase 1b-2 study KEYNOTE-146 evaluates the combination of lenvatinib and pembrolizumab for selected solid tumors. In the mRCC cohort objective response at 24 weeks was seen in 72.7% (95% CI 49.8-89.3) of treatment-naïve patients, 41.2% (18.4-67.1) of previously treated ICI-naïve patients, and 55.8% (45.7-65.5) of ICI-pretreated patients. The safety profile was manageable. The authors conclude that the combination of lenvatinib and pembrolizumab might be an option for post-ICI treatment of mRCC.
