Intratumoral injection of oncolytic virus H01 in combination with concurrent chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer
A study at Zhejiang Cancer Hospital (Hangzhou, China) evaluated the combination of intratumoral injection of oncolytic virus H101 with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for locally advanced cervical cancer (FIGO 2009 stage IIB or III). The major adverse event related to H101 was fever (in 91.3% of patients). Median percentage reduction of tumor length and volume were 37.7% and 75.1%, respectively. The 3-year local, regional, and overall progression-free survival rates were 95%, 95%, and 65%, respectively. The 3-year overall survival rate was 74.3%. The authors conclude that H101 injection may enhance tumor regression in locally advanced cervical cancer, with an acceptable safety profile.
