Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) has become a viable treatment option for resectable brain metastases (BMs). A prospective study in Germany compared IORT patients with patients receiving adjuvant stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) for BMs. IORT resulted in earlier onset of systemic treatment without increasing corticosteroid intake or prolonging in-hospital time. A randomized phase III trial to determine the clinical effects of shorter TTNT is underway.
