The multinational phase 3 IMpower010 trial randomized patients after resection of stage IB-IIIA NSCLC and adjuvant platinum-based chemotherapy to atezolizumab or best supportive care (BSC). Interim analysis of overall survival found that at median 45.3 months follow-up the median OS was comparable between the two arms in the ITT population. Among the patients with stage II-IIIA NSCLC there was a trend of better OS with atezolizumab versus BSC, among the patients with stage II-IIIA NSCLC and PD-L1 TC ≥ 50% The OS was significantly better with atezolizumab versus BSC (HR 0.43; 95% CI 0.24-0.78). No new safety signals were observed since the primary DFS analysis. The authors conclude that these findings support the positive benefit-risk profile of atezolizumab in this setting.
