Interim analysis of a real-world prospective observational study of radium-223 in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer
Prof. Celestia Higano
Radium-223 is approved to treat bone-dominant metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) based on results of the phase 3 ALSYMPCA study. This study was conducted when few other treatment options were available (2008-2011). The multinational prospective observational REASSURE study is conducted to understand long-term safety of radium-223 for mCRPC in clinical practice with currently available therapies. A planned interim analysis, at median 11.5 months follow-up, found that 1.4% of patients had secondary primary malignancies, while safety and overall survival findings were consistent with clinical trial experience.
