Individual participant data meta-analysis of outcomes with ICIs for advanced cancer in solid organ transplant recipients
Dr. Nida Saleem
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have improved overall survival in patients with advanced-stage cancers. However, data on their efficacy and safety in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) are limited. An individual participant data meta-analysis of 128 studies found that among solid organ transplant recipients receiving ICIs for advanced cancer, the outcomes varied by cancer type, with a higher probability of response among those with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma than those with other cancers. Concurrent use of steroids and mTOR-inhibitors during ICI therapy may reduce the risk of acute allograft reaction.
