Impact of FIT-based screening on CRC incidence and stage at CRC detection in the Netherlands
Emilie Breekveldt
A retrospective population-based study in The Netherlands found that after implementation of a FIT-based colorectal cancer screening program in 2014, the incidence of overall and advanced-stage CRC decreased, while there was a shift to detection at earlier stages. Screening-detected CRCs were more likely to be treated by local excision compared with clinically detected CRCs; this finding persisted when stage I CRCs were analysed separately.
