Impact of anatomic stage and receptor status on first recurrence of breast cancer within 5 years
Dr. Heather Neuman
Secondary analysis of patients with stage I-III breast cancer who enrolled in nine Alliance legacy clinical trials from 1997 to 2013 investigated the impact of anatomic stage and receptor status on first recurrence of breast cancer. Only patients who received standard –of-care therapy were included (n=8007). The time to first recurrence varied significantly between receptor types (p<0.0001), and within each receptor type, stage influenced the time to recurrence (p<0.0001). The authors conclude that these data support considering both anatomic stage and receptor status in follow-up recommendations for breast cancer.
