Impact of age and comorbidities on efficacy and tolerability of bosutinib for previously treated CML in the phase 4 BYOND trial
Prof. Gianantonio Rosti
In the phase 4 BYOND trial, patients with pretreated chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) received bosutinib (starting dose 500 mg once daily). Analysis of impact of age and comorbities on efficacy and tolerability of bosutinib in the study found that a substantial proportion of patients
maintained/achieved cytogenetic and molecular responses across age and comorbidity score groups. Older patients (≥ 75 years) and those with high comorbity burden (mCCI ≥ 4) had higher rates of grade 3-4 treatment-emergent adverse events and TEAEs leading to permanent discontinuation. The authors conclude that the latter groups may require more careful monitoring.
