HRQOL with nivolumab plus chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone for advanced gastric, gastro-esophageal junction, or esophageal adenocarcinoma

In the multinational phase 3 CheckMate 649 trial, first-line nivolumab plus chemotherapy prolonged overall and progression-free survival versus chemotherapy in patients with advanced/metastatic non-HER2-positive gastric/gastroesophageal junction/esophageal adenocarcinoma. Exploratory patient-reported outcomes from the trial have now ben published. Compared with chemotherapy alone, first-line nivolumab plus chemotherapy showed stable or better on-treatment health-related quality of life, and also showed decreased risk of definitive HRQOL deterioration.
