High-dose versus standard-dose twice-daily thoracic RT for LS-SCLC

A phase 2 study in Scandinavia investigated concurrent chemoradiotherapy with high-dose thoracic RT (twice-daily 60 Gy in 40 fractions) versus standard-dose thoracic RT (twice-daily 45 Gy in 30 fractions) for treatment-naïve limited-stage SCLC. At two years, 74.2% of the patients in the 60 Gy group were alive, versus 48.1% in the 45 Gy group (OR 3.09; p=0.0005). Toxicity was not increased in the high-dose group.
