Hepatic arterial infusion pump chemotherapy versus resection for multifocal intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
Dr. Bas Groot Koerkamp
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is often multifocal (ie, satellites or intrahepatic metastases) at presentation. A multinational cohort study found that among patients with multifocal iCCA the overall survival was similar after HAIP floxuridine chemotherapy compared with resection. Given the complication rate of major liver resection, HAIP floxuridine chemotherapy might be an effective alternative option.
