Health-related quality of life with tislelizumab versus docetaxel for advanced non-small cell lung cancer

The multicenter phase 3 RATIONALE-303 trial in China randomized patients with previously treated advanced non-small cell lung cancer to tislelizumab or docetaxel, and found significantly longer median overall survival in the tislelizumab group, regardless of PD-L1 expression. A secondary end point was change of health-related quality of life from baseline to week 12 and from baseline to week 18. The tislelizumab group improved while the docetaxel group worsened in global health status/QOL score and fatigue. The patients who received tislelizumab were less at risk for clinically meaningful worsening in the overall lung cancer symptom index scale. The authors conclude that in general, tislelizumab versus docetaxel was associated with improved HRQOL and symptoms of lung cancer in patients after failure of platinum-containing chemotherapy.
