Health-related quality of life with belzutifan versus everolimus for advanced renal cell carcinoma in LITESPARK-005
Prof. Thomas Powles
Belzutifan is a first-in-class HIF-2α inhibitor. The multinational phase 3 LITESPARK-005 trial showed progression-free survival and objective response benefits with belzutifan over everolimus among patients with advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma who previously received immune checkpoint and anti-angiogenic therapies. Health-related quality of life outcomes from the trial have now been published. Belzutifan was associated with improved disease-specific symptoms and quality of life compared with everolimus. The authors conclude that, taken together with the efficacy and safety data from LITESPARK-005, belzutifan could offer a clinical benefit without compromising the quality of life of patients in this setting.
