Graded cardiac response criteria in systemic light chain amyloidosis

Binary cardiac response assessment using cardiac biomarkers is prognostic in light chain amyloidosis. A multinational retrospective study of patients with light chain amyloidosis and cardiac involvement found that graded cardiac response on the basis of percentage reduction in NT-proBNP/BNP from baseline discriminated four prognostic subgroups, with deeper cardiac response leading to longer survival. This new four-level response assessment system had superior performance compared with the curren binary response assessment.
