Global Burden of Disease database analysis of worldwide incidence, mortality, and DALYs of childhood neuroblastoma, 1990-2021
Researchers from Guangxi Medical University (China) used the Global Burden of Disease database to analyze worldwide incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of neuroblastoma in children aged 0-14 years. Globally, the incidence in 2021 was 5560 cases, with 1977 deaths, an 174,186.30 DALYs. From 1990 to 2021, the incidence increased by 30.26%, the mortality by 20.35%, and DALYs by 20.08%. There were increases in incidence, mortality, and DALYs from 1990 to 2017, followed by a decrease with annual percent change of 4-5%. However, the burden of this disease remains significant, especially in low- and middle-SDI regions.
