French nationwide cohort study of PD-L1 inhibitors plus chemotherapy for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer

A nationwide cohort study in France compared first-line atezolizumab plus chemotherapy versus durvalumab plus chemotherapy for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer between 2019 and 2023. The atezolizumab group consisted of 5188 patients and the durvalumab group consisted of 3424 patients. There were no clinically relevant differences between the groups for median time to treatment discontinuation or overall survival. Also, there were no significant safety differences between the groups. The authors conclude that treatment decision could be based on drug availability and cost considerations.
