Five-year follow-up of nedaplatin-versus cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy for stage II to IVB nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is the mainstay and standard of care for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). A phase 3 study at Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, China) compared nedaplatin-based versus cisplatin-based CCRT for stage II to IVB NPC. Five-year follow-up of the study showed that nedaplatin-based CCRT was noninferior to cisplatin-based CCRT in terms of efficacy, and was associated with a lower incidence of grade 3 and 4 auditory toxic effects.
