Single-agent carboplatin is often proposed instead of a conventional carboplatin-paclitaxel doublet in vulnerable older patients with ovarian cancer. A multinational randomized clinical trial compared single-agent carboplatin every 3 weeks versus weekly carboplatin-paclitaxel versus standard carboplatin-paclitaxel every 3 weeks for newly diagnosed stage III or IV ovarian cancer in older and vulnerable women. The study was terminated prematurely due to worse survival in the carboplatin monotherapy group (visual abstract).
