First-line nivolumab plus chemotherapy for HER2-negative unresectable advanced or recurrent G/GEJ cancer
Dr. Narikazu Boku
In previous studies, additive or synergistic antitumor effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors in combinationa with oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy was seen. The phase 3 ATTRACTION-4 trial in Japan, South-Korea, and Taiwan, found that nivolumab plus oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy, compared with placebo plus chemotherapy, significantly improved progression-free survival, but not overall survival, in Asian patients with untreated, HER2-negative, unresectable advanced or recurrent gastric or gastro-esophageal junction cancer. The authors conclude that nivolumab plus oxiplatin-based chemotherapy could potentially be a new first-line treatment option for these patients.
