First-line nivolumab plus cabozantinib versus sunitinib for aRCC: long-term follow-up analysis of CheckMate 9ER

The multinational phase 3 CheckMate 9ER trial randomized patients with previously untreated clear cell advanced renal cell carcinoma to nivolumab plus cabozantinib or sunitinib. In the primary analysis, published last year after median 18.1 months follow-up, nivolumab plus cabozantinib showed superior progression-free survival and objective response over sunitinib. With extended follow-up (median 32.9 months) and preplanned final overall survival analysis per protocol, nivolumab plus cabozantinib demonstrated improved efficacy versus sunitinib.
