Final overall survival results of PAOLA-1 evaluating maintance olaparib plus bevacizumab for advanced ovarian cancer
Prof. Isabelle Ray-Coquard
The multinational phase 3 PAOLA-1/ENGOT-ov25 trial randomized patients with response on first-line platinum-based chemotherapy to olaparib-bevacizumab maintenance or placebo-bevacizumab maintenance. The trial showed that, despite a high proportion of the patients in the control arm receiving PARP inhibitor after progression, ola-bev provided a clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival compared with pbo-bev (median 56.5 months versus 51.6 months). In HRD+ patients, OS was significantly prolonged with ola-bev versus pbo-bev (OS at five years 65.5% versus 48.4%).
