Chemotherapy with or without immunotherapy is the mainstay of treatment for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). A subset of TNBCs express the androgen receptor (AR), representing a potential therapeutic target. A study at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY) assessed the feasibility of adjuvant enzalutamide after completion of standard therapy for early-stage AR-positive TNBC. Seventy percent of patients completed a year of treatment, thereby meeting the prespecified trial endpoint for feasibility. Grade ≥ 3 treatment-related adverse events were uncommon. Medium disease-free survival has not been reached.
