Expression of hENT1 predicts response of advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma to gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel

Modified FOLFIRINOX (mFFX) and gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel (GnP) are standard first-line options for advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (aPDAC). The observational COMPASS trial at the University Health Network (Toronto, Canada) evaluated the mRNA expression of hENT1 as predictive biomarker in advanced aPDAC. The study found that mRNA expression of hENT1 predicted ORR and OS in patients treated with GnP but not in patients treated with mFFX.
