Exploratory analysis of maintenance phase of IMpower133
Dr. Stephen Liu
The multinational phase 3 IMpower133 study randomized patients with previously untreated extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) to four three-week cycles of carboplatin-etoposide chemotherapy with either atezolizumab or placebo, followed by maintenance atezolizumab or placebo. OS and PFS were significantly better with atezolizumab compared with placebo. Exporatory analysis of the patients reaching the maintenance phase has now been published. The analysis suggests that induction as well as maintenance were important contributors to the OS benefit with atezolizumab in IMpower133. Safety results from start of maintenance therapy were similar between the treatment arms.
