Patients with stage II or III triple-negative breast cancer have a high risk of recurrence and death. The multinational phase 3 KEYNOTE-522 study found that in patients with early triple-negative breast cancer, neoadjuvant pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy, followed by adjuvant pembrolizumab after surgery, resulted in significantly longer event-free survival than neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone (visual abstract).
