Efficacy of radiofrequency ablation after TACE plus sorafenib for intermediate stage recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma
Dr. Ping Liang
The evidence for radiofrequency ablation (RFA) following transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) combined with sorafenib for intermediate stage recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (IS-rHCC) is limited. A retrospective study at four centers in China found that among patients with IS-rHCC, addition of RFA after TACE plus sorafenib was associated with longer overall survival and progression-free survival. These survival advantages were not seen among patients with good response and downstaging after TACE and sorafenib.
