Donor clonal hematopoiesis increases risk of acute graft versus host disease after matched sibling transplantation

Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is associated with older age and increased risk of myeloid malignancies and cardiovascular complications. A study at MD Anderson Cancer Center found that donor CH in matched sibling transplantation for AML/MDS was not associated with time to neutrophil and platelet recovery, relapse incidence, transplant-related mortality, and progression-free survival. However, risk of grade II-IV and grade III-IV acute graft versus host disease at 6 months after transplantation was greater with donor CH than without donor CH.
