Delayed immune-related adverse events with anti-PD1-based immunotherapy in melanoma

Prof. Georgina Long

A multinational study investigated the incidence, nature, and management of delayed (ocurring after more than twelve months) immune-related adverse events of anti-PD1 therapy for melanoma. The incidence was 5.3%. Most of delayed irAEs were high grade (39% grade 3 or higher). Delayed irAEs were often difficult to manage; 68% required steroids and 23% required an additional immunosuppressive agent. Delayed irAEs were reported up to 26 months after stopping anti-PD1.
