Comparative study of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, chemotherapy, or chemoimmunotherapy for resectable locally advanced ESCC
A retrospective study at the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University (Shijizhuang, China) compared overall survival after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT), neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT), or neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NCIT) followed by surgery among patients with resectable locally advanced esophgeal squamous cell carcinoma (LA ESCC). As well before (A) as after (B) IPTW adjustment, overall survival was superior with NCIT compared with NCT or NCRT. Addition of adjuvant therapy further improved survival in all groups. The authors conclude that NCIT may offer superior survival benefits over NCRT and NCT among patients with LA ESCC.
