There are limited treatment options for advanced small-cell lung cancer (aSCLC) resistant to first-line chemotherapy. A study at Shanghai Chest Hospital evaluated the combination of anlotinib and PD-1/ PD-L1 inhibitors for previously treated aSCLC. Compared with paclitaxel monotherapy the combination of anlotinib and PD-(L)1 inhibitors was associated with longer progression-free survival as well as longer overall survival. The combination was tolerated. The authors conclude that the combination of anlotinib and PD-1/PD-L1 blockade had promising efficacy and safety as second-line or subsequent therapy for aSCLC.
